New Head of School, Faith Rew starts at St Leonards

19 January 2021

St Leonards new Head of School, Faith Rew, started on the 1st January, here is an introduction from her:

“It is certainly a strange time to be joining the DCAT team but I have already been made to feel very welcome and part of the team.
I started my Education career as an INA at Red Lake and was encouraged to apply for a TA role at All Saints CE Primary School, Hastings. It was there that I was given the opportunity to join the TA to Teacher route offered through the Excellence Cluster (now Education Futures Trust) at Brighton University. I can only say that at that time working full time as a TA and as a single mum, it was only through the inspiration of others and through family support that I managed to achieve my NQT status a few days prior to my 40th birthday!
The experience at All Saints not only gave me the opportunity to grow as a class teacher but take the fledgling steps into being a member of the SLT. I was offered a new opportunity to build on this at Guestling Bradshaw CE Primary School and it was during my time there that I became Deputy Head, SENCO and part-time Year 6 teacher. I am now thrilled to have joined St Leonards CE Primary Academy as Head of School.
It is my wish that through those that had inspired me to pursue a career in education that I can pass it on and inspire others, both those I work alongside and our children.
I am very much looking forward to working with DCAT and hope that I can meet the team ‘in person’ in the future.”
