DIOCESE OF CHICHESTER ACADEMY TRUST TRUSTEES' REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2019
All Saints CofE Junior School (converted 1 February 2015)
The Headteacher has built on improved performance in the last year and has secured a second year of very positive outcomes in 2019. These include achieving a ranking that puts them in the top 4% of schools for pupil progress. In January 2018, the academy secured a 'good' in a positive Ofsted inspection with 238 pupils on roll.
St Leonards CofE Primary Academy (converted 1 April 2015)
This year saw KS2 outcomes achieving a level above national and local outcomes at expected standard, and a significant increase of children receiving outcomes at greater depth. Progress is strong in ail areas. In January 2018, the academy secured a 'requires improvement' judgement with 'good' for leadership and management. Since then, the leadership has been strengthened. The inspection judgment was fair given the 2017 outcomes, and leaders are confident of reaching a 'good' overall judgement at the next inspection which the Trust anticipates taking place during 2019-20.
St Paul's CofE Academy (converted 1 August 2016)
The academy and nursery are oversubscribed, with 667 pupils on roll in the academy and nursery. The school voluntarily converted to academy status in 2016 and, as St Paul's was designated a 'good' school at the point of conversion into the Trust. The anticipated inspection took place in March 2019 and secured 'good' for all areas of judgement. The outcomes at KS2 continue to improve and are now significantly above national average. The progress rates have been transformed and disadvantaged groups are performing strongly in the academy.
St Catherine's College (converted 1 August 2016)
The academy is an 11-16 secondary academy with 1059 students on roll. The school converted to academy status voluntarily as a 'good' school at its last inspection (2014). The 2019 outcomes for St Catherine's College were a marginal improvement on the 2018 results, with combined attainment in English and Maths broadly in line with national averages with some subject variation. Progress rates are below national and an area for improvement. Ofsted visited the school in October 2018 and again in November 2019 under the revised Ofsted framework, and judged the school as 'good'. The new Headteacher received significant praise for his work in improving the school in the year since he took up post.
Central CofE Academy (converted 1 November 2016)
The academy converted to DCAT having required special measures as it was graded as 'inadequate' by Ofsted in February 2015, whilst a maintained school. This judgement was confirmed during an Ofsted inspection in May 2017. The academy is undergoing a period of significant improvement; KS2 outcomes have improved significantly from 30% to 61% at expected standard in combined reading, writing and maths with combined greater depth results increasing from 0% to 5%. The school is led by two Co-Headteachers who, together with two Assistant Headteachers and support from the Trust, are continuing to drive improvements at the school. Ofsted visited in March 2019 and the Trust were pleased to achieve an improved 'requires improvement' rating, with Leadership and Management and Behaviour and Welfare obtaining a 'good' judgement. The school subsequently received a further section 48 SIAMS inspection in April 2019 and received 'good' in all areas.
Christ Church CofE Primary & Nursery Academy (converted 1 May 2017)
The academy is a 2-11 primary academy with nursery provision. The main academy is two-form entry with 463 pupils on roll.
