Multi Academy Trust Model for Church of England Schools
50A The Members may appoint the CEO and such number of Principals as the Members see fit to appoint but shall ensure that the total number of Directors who are employees of the Company does not exceed one third of the total number of Directors. The persons appointed under this Article shall include the accounting officer for the Academy Trust for the time being.
51. Subject to Article 52, the Members shall appoint such number of Academy Directors as they shall see fit.
52. The Local Governing Bodies shall, at the start of each school year, elect such
number of persons as directed by the Members from amongst their number (who shall be from different Local Governing Bodies) to be the Academy Directors. Any person elected in accordance with this Article shall remain an Academy Director only for as long as he remains a member of a Local Governing Body and only for the term specified in Article 64. The Members shall make all necessary arrangements for, and determine all other matters relating to the election of the Academy Directors in accordance with this Article. Any election of the Academy Directors which is contested shall be held by secret ballot.
PARENT DIRECTORS
53. In circumstances where the Directors have not appointed Local Governing Bodies in respect of some or all of the Academies as envisaged in Article 101A there shall be a minimum of 2 Parent Directors and otherwise such number as the Members shall decide who shall be appointed or elected in accordance with Articles 54 - 56.
54. Parent Directors and Parent members of the Local Governing Bodies or Advisory Bodies shall be elected or appointed by the parents of registered pupils at one or more of the Academies and each must be a parent at the time when he is elected or appointed.
54A. Notwithstanding Article 53, if no parents put themselves forward for election the number of Parent Directors and Parent members of the Local Governing Bodies or Advisory Bodies required shall be made up by Parent Directors and Parent members appointed by the Directors.
55.
The Directors shall make all necessary arrangements for, and determine all other
matters relating to, an election of the Parent Directors or Parent members of Local
Governing Bodies or Advisory Bodies, including any question of whether a person is a
parent of a registered pupil at one of the Academies. Any election of the Parent
